LAFD - Chief Officers Association Click HERE for a PDF of this document September 12, 2006 Paul Waters, Executive Director Dear Friends: On behalf of the Chief Officers Association, we are honored to express our support for the 2006 Los Angeles / Valley Pride: Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Awareness Festival. The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD), and its members, whom we represent, is made up of firefighters as diverse in their backgrounds as the City we serve. Yet this “diversity” cannot be characterized as “differences,” as we are unified in our ongoing dedication to ensure that each and every member of LAFD is treated as an integral, valued and respected member of our team. Our City is blessed with many distinct communities, far greater in number and variety than those of most countries. Our service to the City means service to all of these communities, and we welcome the opportunity to partner with each for the betterment of all. Through mutual understanding comes mutual respect. We therefore salute Los Angeles / Valley Pride for its commitment to provide a forum whereby understanding of our City’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community has an opportunity to be nurtured, and grow.
