Dear Friends,

On behalf of the City of Los Angeles, it is my honor to welcome and support Los Angeles / Valley Pride and all those gathered to celebrate the GLBT Awareness Festival.

As a founding member of the Gay and Lesbian Caucus while in the California State Assembly, I fought for equality and awareness for the GLBT community. And I continue to fight today, because not until each one of us receives the equal standing we deserve as citizens and humans will our society be truly whole.

I want to applaud Los Angeles / Valley Pride for promoting awareness, respect and pride for the GLBT community of our city. Through the hard work of Los Angeles / Valley Pride, Los Angeles and California are leading the way towards equal rights for every person. Together we will continue to work to ensure that every person is treated with mutual respect and basic human decency.

It is an honor to partner with organizations that endeavor to make a difference in our city.
