Through your hard work, you continue to improve the quality of life for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people by helping to recognize the strength of the community as part of the City of Los Angeles. This Pride celebration helps to acknowledge and appreciate the important contributions that members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community make to our City, a true testament to the City's great strength. The City of Los Angeles recognizes the importance of the recent Supreme Court decision on gay marriage and the many challenges ahead. The City has demonstrated and will continue to show its awareness and support of protections against discrimination. It takes continued perseverance from organizations like Los Angeles / Valley Pride to raise awareness, fight discrimination and encourage pride in our communities. Awareness leads to respect, community, unity and pride. Most importantly, this festival showcases the diverse network of community and service organizations that work toward the common goal of improving the quality of life for everyone in our City.
